He was Deputy Editor of both the Spectator and The Daily Telegraph and remains a columnist at the Daily and Sunday Telegraphs. \nHe has written a number of histories and biographies\, including a four-volume history of Britain from 1838 to 1939 and the authorised biography of Enoch Powell. \nHe edited three-volume unexpurgated edition of the diaries of Sir Henry ‘Chips’ Channon\, and has written three best-selling books on English grammar. \nSimon Heffer is Professor of Modern British History at the University of Buckingham. Commissioned into the 11th Hussars he served in Germany & UK. He was subsequently Equerry to the then Prince Of  Wales KGKT. He later served in the United States Senate Parliament . He worked in the City of London before entering into the Houses of Parliament .Nicholas was a Conservative Member of Parliament from 1983 to 2019. In the course of his distinguished career in Parliament he held a number of senior roles\, including serving as a Minister for Defence and as  Minister for Agriculture\, Fisheries and Food. Nicholas has a specialist knowledge in the fields of Anglo-American Defence matters \, Security in the Middle East and Europe \, International Affairs\, Trade and Industry\, Aviation and the Countryside. He is currently President of the Conservative Middle East Council.  senior Advisor to Panmure Gordon and to FMA Partners and to a number of other companies. Currently he is President of Brighton College\, a Trustee of The Normandy Memorial Trust and a longstanding Trustee of the Amber Foundation. Nicholas was made a Privy Counsellor in 2011 and knighted in 2014.
