SIR GEOFFREY COX 

The Rt Hon Geoffrey Cox QC MP was the Attorney General for England & Wales and Advocate General for Northern Ireland under Prime Ministers Theresa May and Boris Johnson from 2018 to 2020.

He is a Conservative Member of Parliament for Torridge & West Devon. Following his education at King’s College, Taunton, Mr Cox read law and English Literature at Downing College, Cambridge.  He was called to the Bar in 1982 and co-founded Thomas More Chambers before taking silk in 2003. Mr Cox has appeared in many high profile cases receiving national and international publicity from trial to appeal before the Court of Appeal, the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council and the Supreme Court. Until he took silk, he was Standing Counsel to the Government of Mauritius, advising on legislation and representing the Government in a wide range of private law actions as well as constitutional and public law issues. He has had a wide international practice and, until his current appointment, continued to appear in courts in the Cayman Islands, Mauritius, and Dubai and increasingly in international commercial and investment arbitrations.
